AP Spanish: Art, Beauty, and Aesthetics
Teacher: Angela Mitchell
Co- Cross Curricular Teachers: Amy Lee Story, Robyn Martin, and Conway Brackett
The students from Angela Mitchell’s two Spanish AP Classes did this project in IPHOTO with the guidance and inspiration Amy Story and support from Conway Brackett.
Amy Story from the Fine Arts Department created five step by step videos of how to research images, archive images, design, use Adobe Photoshop tools, and complete image that met the following requirements. US Director of Academic Technology, Conway Brackett, helped students through the process of their design using Adobe Photoshop. We used a different instructional approach this year. Students would submit their first drafts to Amy Story and then she would create a quick time video of how to fix problems and trouble shooting tips to the students. This way the each student had individual attention for their project.

The Holocaust and History of Genocide
Teachers: Kevin Randolph
Cross Curricular Teacher: Amy Lee Story
Cross Curricular Teacher: Amy Lee Story
Upper School teacher Kevin Randolph has been assigning an art project for his The Holocaust and History of Genocide class for years. This unique project that he has designed allows students to choose any artistic medium to express their experience from his semester class. The Lovett Fine Arts program thought it was high time for Kevin to put these special projects on display.
The fine arts did not help design the artwork, but only curated the exhibit. This collaboration of the high quality work that was directed by Mr. Randolph and having a strong format for viewing resulted in a three week exhibition in the Upper School. Mr. Randolph's students had unique needs for their artwork. Some were works on paper, some were the hanging of canvas, and some were film and music. Using a television already set up in the hall the Fine Arts team created a film that would loop all these works together. There were also high quality posters made and careful matting of the work. This allowed for a unique viewing experience of classroom project work.

Visiting Alumni Artist: Katie Fee
Teacher Vernon Smith invited Katie Fee to come back to Lovett to do a workshop on lidded jars with his ceramic classes. She also shared her professional line of ceramic work. Katie Fee is currently and Artist-in-residence at the Morean Center For Clay in Saint Petersburg, Florida. The Artist in Residence (AIR) Program at the Morean Center faims to enhance and further the educational experience of clay artists seeking recognition in the professional realm. The AIRs at MCC are comprised of individuals with either their bachelor's or master's degree in art who are interested in working in a studio setting to continue to foster their growth as a ceramic artist.
During their time as AIRs, they are encouraged to build their body of work, apply to shows and participate in group and individual critiques. A solo exhibition serves as the capstone experience for the program, highlighting the concentration of the artist's work during his/her time at the MCC. Her website can be viewed at: www.katiefee.com

Visiting Artist: Hannah Adair
Hannah Adair was our 2018 featured artist in the Lovett Galleria. Her printmaking techniques include meticulous hand drawn design coupled with difficult printing techniques. The Lovett students not only were able to enjoy viewing her work in the Galleria, but they also enjoyed an artist talk. Hannah now has finished her MFA in Printmaking. Her artwork is represented by local galleries. This visit is also sponsored by Savannah College of Art and Design, Atlanta.
